Currently we are the working out the concept of KnASTU's development for the period till 2010. It has been centered on long-term goals and the development of scientific and technical potential of our city and region, it is determined by a need to supply enough qualified university degree personnel/employees for our industry and society.
The KnASTU's development concept takes into account the existing and perspective ways of scientific and engineering specialization of the city of Komsomolsk-on-Amur, among them:
- Aircraft engineering
- Ocean engineering (perspective)
- Shipbuilding
- Oil processing and petrochemistry (perspective)
- Metals industry (in partnership with the IMM)
- Electrical engineering and electric power
- Electronics (perspective)
- Civil engineering, housing and public utility sector
- Road construction (perspective)
- Forestry and wood processing/milling (perspective)
- Mining and extraction industry (perspective)
The project of KnASTU's development assumes that a system of program areas of activity will be implemented, among them:
1. Building up and further improvement of the University's infrastructure, which would ensure that all the key (existing/perspective) research and engineering subjects and areas of work in the city of Komsomolsk-on-Amur will have an appropriate scientific framework and highly qualified professional personnel for their implementation.
Objective: to guarantee that KnASTU will become and remain the centre of science and innovative technology within the techno-eco-police called «Komsomolsk-Amursk-Solnechny»
2. Identification and framing of first priority research and technological areas, carrying out fundamental and applied research across all topical scientific and engineering subjects with regard for the city's and region's needs, in line with existing and perspective ways of specialization of Komsomolsk-on-Amur.
Objective: a breakthrough in the development of scientific/technical potential of our city and the region, creation of new science-intensive technologies.
3. Modernization and expansion of scientific/technical/experimental and educational (laboratory) facilities of the University.
Objective: to ensure quality improvement in research and education/training of students, to make them world-class engineering experts each in his/her domain, + implementation of goals 1 and 2.
4. Setting up new joint research labs and teams together with IMM DVO RAN, KGPU, and other academic institutions, companies and organizations.
Objective: to ensure the integration of scientific, research&technology, and educational activities in the city and the region.
5. Establishment and development of innovative structures within the University's research&technology park and within the techno-eco-police «KAS» for the purpose of realization of research aimed at the creation and further application of science&technology intellectual property to economic activities.
Objective: to facilitate the establishment of various forms of organizational support for innovation, to set up new elements of infrastructure and integrate them into a comprehensive well-coordinated system of support for the innovation-focused activities of the research complex; to provide scientific, organizational, information, marketing and financial support for the development and introduction into the market of new and duly protected science technology products; to organize their manufacture and replication of new types of produce designed for commercial realization; to ensure that scientific activity is commercially viable and that science is and will remain one of the key drivers of social economical development of the city, of the research complex and of the region.
6. Development of mechanisms that can facilitate and promote collaboration between universities and organizations/companies in the city and the region with the aim of designing competitive products, as part of performance of commercial contracts and realization of joint scientific and research&engineering programs and projects.
Objective: to boost the scientific potential of the city and the region, to raise more finance from budgets at different levels, to establish and develop mechanisms of interaction between science and industry.
